Where do they appear in the Torah? What is their interpretation? What is their purpose? How have they been a basis for a Jewish life throughout the generations? How can they apply in our lives, how they can inspire us, and what opportunities can they give us to feel a sense of connection? We will look together at some of the sources and think about their meaning and relevance. Sam plans to start with a general discussion of what mitzvot are and why they are important.

On Thursday, May 6, surrounded (on zoom) with friends and colleagues from around the globe, Shayna earned her smicha. Shayna has been a cornerstone of our Jewish community for many years, and we wish her continued success and joy in this new role of Rabbi.
On a personal note, Rabbi Shayna has been a source of education and a commpassionate ear when I have needed one these past few years. She has an easy way of explaining difficult text and Jewish law and I appreciate every brainstorm session and that she still picks up the phone when she sees it's me on the other end- I often want something, and I need it yesterday. Toda Raba for your guidance, leadership, and freindship. ~Ellyn
