As part of continuing to build our community, we thought we take the time to introduce our Board of Directors. Please meet your JCM Board member of the week, Gabe Crane
Hi, I'm Gabe Crane, one of your JCM board members. I'm relatively new to Maui and JCM. I live in Kula with my wife and son. Before moving here, I lived in Oakland, California, close-by to where I was raised in Berkeley. My family also has roots on Maui.
In my professional life, I am a mediator, facilitator, and coach with a bent toward spiritual development and holistic growth. Through my business Woven Wings, I help organizations and individual clients to find resonance --- within themselves and between one another ---- in order to solve problems and move forward. I hold degrees in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (Columbia University) and East-West Psychology (California Institute of Integral Studies). And, I am a Ren Xue teacher and practitioner, drawing on Eastern health and wisdom practices in the services I provide.
I have been involved in Jewish life since my upbringing and bar mitzvah at a large and vibrant reform synagogue in Berkeley, CA. In addition to JCM, I currently sit on the board of Jewish Studio Project, an arts-based creativity and health organization with a growing national reach. I previously participated in the ADAMAH Fellowship at Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center in Falls Village, CT, as well as worked contractually for Eden Village Camp, Wilderness Torah, and other eco-Jewish organizations. Thanks to a grant from the San Francisco Jewish Federation, I spent a year living and studying in Israel in 2011-2012. I still maintain contacts and friends there, and feel a particular kinship to Jerusalem and the land there.
As a JCM Board member, I am excited to be a part of renewing vibrant life within our community. I chair our Why Committee, and most recently helped facilitate our Town Hall Meeting. As a newer member, I was struck at this meeting by the depth of history this community holds, as well as the passion its members have for this community and place. The level of participation was through the roof! And the energy was palpable. I am excited to support the evolution and growth of our community in ways that honor all our members, and the needs of all our generations, while bringing us together in ways that genuinely nourish. I welcome you to reach out and share your interests and desires for our community. Thank you.

If you don't give today, how can we be here tomorrow?
You may not need us every day, or even every week. But when you want us, you need us to be here.
Please give a gift to JCM. We rely solely on donations/memberships to pay our bills, our salaries, and programming. Your gift now will ensure that our dynamic leadership team has the resources we need to be here for you and your Maui Jewish community.
Give with joy, give with pride, give today.
P.S. We're not spending money and using resources to send out letters, this is this our ask and our reminder to you that we do not exist without you.
