Sam serves as a volunteer officiant at the Jewish Congregation of Maui, Beit Shalom, while also practicing law full-time in Wailuku, HI. Originally from Israel, he studied at the Har Etzyon Yeshiva in Alon Shevut and has led services in various locations, including Beersheva, Jerusalem, Brooklyn's Congregation B'nai Avraham, Midtown Chabad in New York, and Congregation Ohav Zedek in Bayonne, New Jersey.
After relocating to Maui in 2013, he met and married Moriah Diamond, the owner of the charming Cat Cafe in Kahului, a non-profit dedicated to finding homes for stray and abandoned cats. In addition to guiding Shabbat and holiday services, including the upcoming Passover Seder, Sam is a member of JCM's Board of Directors and conducts a weekly midrash. We appreciate his guidance, dedication and commitment.

Important changes to the Annual Members Meeting and Board Nominations
Dear Members of the Jewish Congregation of Maui (JCM),
As we approach the end of the year, we would like to notify you of our upcoming Board andAnnual Members Meeting scheduled for June 29, 2025. This gathering provides us with an opportunity to come together as a community, reflect on the past year, and discuss plans for the future. We will be addressing key issues, sharing updates, and seeking your valuable input on matters important to our synagogue community. We will also be conducting elections for new JCM Board members.
Meeting Details: ● Date: June 29, 2025 ● Times: 11am-1pm Board Meeting. All are welcome but may be asked to briefly exit the synagogue if there is an executive session. 1pm-2pm - Annual Members Meeting. Light refreshments will be serve but everyone is welcome to bring snacks or a dish to share. ● Location: Jewish Congregation of Maui, Beit Shalom Synagogue 634 Alulike St, Kihei, HI 96753.
Nominations and Requirements for Leadership Positions: In preparation for the meeting, we are currently accepting nominations for the JCM Board. If you know of someone or would like to nominate yourself, please submit your nominations by June 08, 2025. Board members have to be Jewish, be residents of the County of Maui, and be in good standing (paid voting membership). New members are eligible.

Voting Process: After the nominations close on June 8th, 2025. The ballots will be available from June 15-29. You will then be able to cast your vote electronically from the comfort of your home. If you prefer, when you join us in person on June 29, 2025, you can cast your vote at the designated voting station in the synagogue.
Please note: Membership dues need to be paid in full by May 31, 2025 to be guaranteed a vote or nomination. If you are a past member and interested in being part of the board, and you are not already a paid member, please renew your membership here at https://mauijews.shulcloud.com/join by May 31, 2025.
