Toda Raba to everyone who has made end of year donations to JCM... as we get ready to welcome Rabbi Raanan to Maui for a visit and potentially as our new Rabbi, this means everything, to all of us. These past two year have been hard, flood in the building, covid, rabbi search...and there have been hard decisions to make...and through it all you trusted us, supported us, and encouraged us. These past two years also allowed for us to save for new rabbi, continue lifecycle events with our lay-leadership (4 in just the last week), and learn how to effectively use Zoom to create access for more people.
Most of all, for me, the past two years have shown me how critical it is that JCM is an option for Jewish life on Maui. We are here, for everyone, equally. It's a community I am proud to be a part of. It matters, it's important... and I know it's important to you too.
You have a few hours left to get a tax deduction for 2021... thank you for making JCM an important part of our community. DONATE HERE
You may not need us everyday, but when you do, we're here for you!
Wishing everyone a wonderful 2022 full of joy, health, and happiness. Aloha, Ellyn
Just look at what your kids made in Kulanu! Thank you for being the community we all want and need.
Chanukah, the season of light, miracles, and victory, is past. We have not quite rededicated the Temple like the Maccabees, but during the long siege of restrictions and closures, you have shown us and your community how important it is that JCM is here.
2022 will be incredible. We are excited to welcome a potential spiritual leader, Rabbi Rannan Mallek, for in-person services and meetings from January 12 - 19. More than any other candidate, Rabbi Raanan is feeling like the perfect fit. Just think, in a month, you could meet your new rabbi. Let's do this - together!
Please make an end of year tax-deductible gift to JCM. We are the only Jewish community on Maui that offers equal access to Jewish life to everyone, and that is important! In the past two months, we called three Maui girls to the Torah as a Bat Mitzvah, and we have a winter filled with more B. Mitzvahs! Your gifts make this possible. Our new giving model considers all donors as members. While voting member status will still be reserved, we welcome all members to contribute ideas, volunteer efforts, and monetary donations.
To make a donation use this link, mail a check, call Ellyn in the office with your credit card number, or make a request to your donor advised charitable account.
Thank you for your past and continued support … We are so happy you’re here.
Toda raba, Your JCM Board of Directors Sheri Levin McNerthney, Marge Bonar, Janine Holstein, Simon Vojdani, Sarah Shaines, & Gail Schell

We are getting ready for Rabbi Raanan's visit!
Jan 12 -19, 2022
A calendar of events is posted on the website calendar. Times and activities are subject to change, but we want you to know the timeline as it stands right now so you can start planning your week getting to know him. Please continue to check the calendar (and of course, I'll post in the newsletter) for changes in times and dates.
Rabbi Raanan is staying close to the shul and is planning (almost) daily early morning Shacharit and tefillin. This will be available by Zoom as well.
Our plan is to meet in-person with masks and be outside as much as we can. There will be a westside meeting and some others will be added as well.
Thank you for your patience while we work to make this a meaningful and productive visit for all of us.
If you can help with any of the planning or execution of any of the events (food, set up, clean up, etc.) please let Ellyn know- you can just reply to this newsletter. We can use your help.
